HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The Winthrop University baseball team fell to High Point with a final score of 7-3 on Saturday at Williard Stadium. Despite an early 2-1 lead, the Winthrop squad was unable to contain High Point's offense, which scored four runs in the third inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Gabe Natividad was hit by a pitch in the first inning.
Jaylen Hernandez singled to right center, advancing Natividad to third.
Corey Wouters flied out to center, allowing Natividad to score and give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning,
Chazz Grossington singled and
Grant McGuire walked, putting runners on first and second.
Colin Crowley grounded out, driving in Grossington to extend the Eagles' lead to 2-0. High Point scored in the bottom half, making it 2-1 Eagles.
High Point scored four runs in the third inning, including hits by McCarter and Kohler, taking a 5-2 lead.
Alan Benhardt reached on an error in the fourth inning and scored on Grossington's single, cutting the deficit to 5-3.
High Point hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning, extending its lead to 7-3. The Eagles did not score in the remaining innings.
