ROCK HILL, S.C. --Â The Winthrop University baseball team dominated for a 23-5 victory over Longwood on Friday at Founders Field, powered by a season-high 21-hit offensive display.Â
With the win, the Eagles clinched a bye in the upcoming Big South Conference Baseball Tournament, securing the No.2 seed.
The Eagles also recorded a season-high of 23 runs and 21 runs batted in during the game, reaching the 500 hits milestone with a total of 513 hits, including 21 in this game.Â
This marks the second most runs in a Big South Conference game for the Eagles since they scored 24 against UNC Asheville in 1995, and it's been 20 years since they put up 23 runs in a conference game (2006 against Charleston Southern).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Longwood's Tre Keels scored on a single by Jaeden Carter. Jaylen Hernandez's single and Gabe Natividad's RBI single helped the Eagles take the lead. Colin Crowley's grand slam put the Eagles ahead 5-1.
- Zach Greenberg's single set up multiple RBIs from Natividad, Alan Benhardt, and Josh Skowronski. Crowley and Grossington contributed additional RBIs, leading to a score of 13-1.
- Longwood scored four runs with help from an error and Jon Howard's two-RBI double. The Eagles responded with three runs, including Skowronski's RBI single and Crowley's sacrifice fly, leading 16-5.
- RBIs from Benhardt, Corey Wouters, and Skowronski, with Ethan Wilson adding a pinch-hit RBI, extended the lead to 20-5.
- Grossington's three-RBI double ended the scoring at 23-5.
