ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Winthrop University baseball team secured a 5-1 victory over UNC Asheville on Friday night at Greenwood Field.
Winthrop's pitching staff, led by
Brayden Gilley with his seventh Quality Start this season and fourth straight, limited UNC Asheville to five hits over nine innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gabe Natividad led off the first inning with a double and scored on a passed ball. Corey Wouters singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Alan Benhardt.
- In the third, Josh Skowronski doubled and scored on Benhardt's RBI single. UNC Asheville scored its lone run in the bottom of the inning.
- Jaylen Hernandez doubled in the fifth and was driven in by Wouters' single.
- A fielding error in the seventh allowed Skowronski to score on Zach Greenberg's single.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Harrison Wilson pitched three scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit with three strikeouts, and recorded his fifth three-inning save.
- Brayden Gilley tallied a season-high four ground outs.
- Corey Wouters collected his seventh three-hit game on the year.

- Winthrop's offense collected 12 hits, including three doubles.
