ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Winthrop University baseball team secured a 5-1 victory over UNC Asheville on Friday night at Greenwood Field. Â
Winthrop's pitching staff, led by
Brayden Gilley with his seventh Quality Start this season and fourth straight, limited UNC Asheville to five hits over nine innings.Â

- Gabe Natividad led off the first inning with a double and scored on a passed ball. Corey Wouters singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Alan Benhardt.Â
- In the third, Josh Skowronski doubled and scored on Benhardt's RBI single. UNC Asheville scored its lone run in the bottom of the inning.Â
- Jaylen Hernandez doubled in the fifth and was driven in by Wouters' single.Â
- A fielding error in the seventh allowed Skowronski to score on Zach Greenberg's single.Â

- Harrison Wilson pitched three scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit with three strikeouts, and recorded his fifth three-inning save.Â
- Brayden Gilley tallied a season-high four ground outs.Â
- Corey Wouters collected his seventh three-hit game on the year.Â
- Colin Crowley recorded at least two walks in two consecutive games.Â
- Winthrop's offense collected 12 hits, including three doubles.Â
