Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop softball ended its four-game win streak, dropping a midweek meeting 5-2 against Wofford on Wednesday evening.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Both teams were relatively quiet offensively in the first inning
- The Terriers did get a two out double in the top of the second by Devine and stole third but was stranded
- Wofford got on the board first in the top of the third after a fielding error by Peyton Bryden scored Gracie Parker
- A single from Wofford's Abby Greenwood led to two stolen bases and a run in the top of the fourth for a 2-0 lead
- The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Grayson Buckner got on base with a single through the right side
- A double from Mili Watts to right center then pushed Buckner to third
- Tabitha Perry reached first on a fielder's choice to score Buckner and put Watts at third
- A double steal by pinch runner Brianna Riehle to second led to Watts stealing home to tie the game 2-2
- On the play Riehle tried to get to third on the throw home but was thrown out by inches sliding into the base
- Kaylee Hannon held the Terriers to no hits or runs in the top of the sixth
- Margaret Axelson held the Eagles to one hit and zero runs in the bottom of the sixth
- Wofford started out the top of the seventh with a single to left center by Abbi Campbell
- A walk by Gracie Parker put Campbell on second
- Both players then stole second and third base
- A sacrifice fly to right field by Addison Lucier gave Wofford the lead after plating Campbell
- Rivers Sampson then singled to left field to score Parker and Platte scored on a ground out
- Annelisa Winebarger reached base on a fielding error to start the seventh and Watts reaching on a fielder's choice, it wasn't enough for a comeback as the Eagles fell 5-2
EXTRA BASES
- Peyton Bryden extended her streak of reaching base safely to 15 straight games, the longest streak by an Eagle since Paige Rivas reached in 15 straight in 2022
- It was Bryden's 13th multi-hit game of the season and has a hit in four straight as closes in on 100 career hits (95)
- Buckner has also has a hit in four straight games

Winthrop restarts conference play at Terry Field on Friday, April 10, for Alumni Weekend, against USC Upstate at 4 p.m.
