Rock Hill, S.C. – The Big South Conference announced seedings for the 2026 Big South Men's Golf Championship and Winthrop has earned the top seeding for next week's championship.
The Eagles have the highest ranking (clippd.com) among all of the league schools and are the top seed in the championship for the first time since the 2015 season. Winthrop has now been a Top 4 seed for the conference championship three straight years.
Winthrop turned in one its best seasons, finishing in the top seven in 7-of-9 events on the year, finishing Top 4 on three occasions and a season-best T3 finish at the Lake Jovita Invitational. As a team the Eagles posted the 4
th, 5
th and 7
th lowest 54-hole scores in program history. The Eagles finished the Lake Jovita Inv. at 12-under, which tied for the program's third-lowest 54-hole score. The final round of 11-under was the third-lowest single-round score by an Eagle team in program history.
The team's current stroke average of 288.70 heading into the championship is the lowest in the history of the program. The previous mark was set by the 2023-24 team at 292.23.
Longwood is ranked No. 186 in the nation by Clippd and receives the No. 2 seed, ahead of three-seeded Gardner-Webb's ranking of 201. High Point earns the No. 4 seed with its national ranking of 221. Radford, ranked No. 226, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, with Charleston Southern (235) receiving the No. 6 seed. USC Upstate receives the No. 7 seed (No. 239), with Presbyterian at No. 8 (245).
The Big South Men's Golf Championship will be held at the Ocean Creek Golf Course as part of the Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort for the third consecutive year, and will utilize a par 71, 6,546-yard layout to determine this year's champion. The 2026 Big South Men's Golf Championship begins Sunday, April 26 with a morning practice round followed by the first round of competition in the afternoon. A three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be held April 26-28, followed by Match Play Semifinal & Final rounds on Wednesday, April 29 featuring the top four team finishers from stroke play. Championship action can be followed online via
Clippd's Scoreboard Live platform. The 2026 champion from Match Play will receive the Big South's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows, and is subject to change due to weather:
