Rock Hill, S.C— Winthrop men's golf opens the 2026-27 season this weekend as it heads to the Grand Strand for the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate Sept. 6-8.

A GLANCE AT THE EAGLES

This is the third year of the event and the first time the Eagles have competed in it
Eagles had opened the previous two seasons at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C.
There are four new faces on the roster this year, three of which will compete in this event
The Eagles top returners are Mason Kucia, Thomas Lamar and Logan Lutz
Kucia enjoyed a strong freshman campaign, finishing with a 73.55 stroke average and posted five rounds of par or better
Lamar has the top returning stroke average at 72.58, which was a collegiate-best for him in a single-season
Lamar had 10 rounds of par or better last season to go along with three Top 20 finishes and a season-best T4 at the Wofford Invitational
Andrew Gregory is a transfer from Liberty University where he competed in seven events last year, finishing with a 73.57 stroke average and six rounds of par or better
Cole Rouse is a junior transfer from Wingate where he competed in nine events in 2025-26, finishing with a 74.50 stroke average
Mac Buckley is the lone freshman on the roster this season
It is the fourth straight season a freshman has cracked the lineup for the opening event
