HOW IT HAPPENED
- Winthrop put two on in the first when Gabe Natividad and Skowronski were hit by pitches, but Alan Benhardt grounded into a double play and Hernandez struck out to strand Natividad at third
- Auburn struck for three in the bottom of the first as Bristol Carter walked, Chris Rembert singled and Fralick drove a three-run homer to right field for a 3-0 lead
- Wouters doubled to right center to lead off the second, but the Eagles left him stranded after a lineout, strikeout and groundout
- Brayden Gilley settled in with scoreless second and third innings before Mason McCraine tripled down the right field line in the fourth and Carter followed with a two-run homer to left to push the lead to 5-0
- The Tigers blew it open with five in the fifth as a Rembert sacrifice fly made it 6-0 before a Winthrop error in left field allowed two more to score and Eric Guevara capped the inning with a two-run homer to left center for a 10-0 lead
- Marciano was dominant throughout, scattering three hits and striking out six while issuing just one walk in his six innings of work
- Ethan Harden retired the Eagles in order in the seventh to close out the run-rule victory
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
