Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop softball junior
Emmy Cardenas has been named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Cardenas Made three starts last week with a complete game performance in game two of the Charleston Southern series. Opened the week starting at Queens and throwing two innings. She then started the series opener allowing three runs on five hits in three innings. In the final game of the series, she started and allowed just one run on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts to earn her 5th win of the season and help the Eagles clinch a series victory. In Big South play, Cardenas is now 3-0 with a 2.56 ERA in five appearances.
Cardenas is the second Eagle to garner the league's pitcher of the week honor as
Lonna Addison was the co-pitcher of the week on Mar. 10. Cardenas joins Addison as well as
Darrah Nickens,
Rebecca Amos (twice) and
Peyton Bryden as Eagles that have earn a weekly conference honor this season.
