Tia Beckham's two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth lifted Winthrop to a 3-2 victory over Gardner-Webb, completing a series sweep on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagles struck first as Rebecca Amos drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first
- Peyton Bryden doubled off the left field wall to push Amos to third
- Darrah Nickens hit a line shot right at the right fielder, but Amos tagged and scored on the sacrifice fly
- Gardner-Webb answered right back in the top of the second as Maggie Knight singled to lead off and then moved to second on an error on the play
- Caroline Johnson singled to center to put runners at the corners
- LY Forte hit a grounder to second as Mili Watts scooped it up tagged Johnson on the play as Knight raced home to tie the game 1-1
- Gardner-Webb grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning as Alli Stidham singled to right with one out
- Lauren Spainhower ran for Stidham and eventually came around to score on a single to center by Knight
- Winthrop responded in the bottom half of the sixth as Annelisa Winebarger singled down the left field line to lead things off
- Tia Beckham stepped up to the plate and took the first pitch over the fence in center field to put the Eagles back in the lead 3-2
EXTRA BASES
- The victory gives the Eagles a series sweep of the Runnin' Bulldogs for the first time since 2022
- Lonna Addison tossed the final 1.2 to earn her 10th win of the season
- Bryden extended her streak of reaching base to nine games
- Bryden finished the season 6-for-10 at the plate with two runs and five RBI
- Beckham and Nickens both had four RBI in the series
- The home run for Beckham was the 16th of her Winthrop career and she now has 68 RBI in 79 games played at Winthrop
ON DECK
Winthrop is back on the road starting Tuesday, Mar. 24 as it bounces over the North Carolina border into Charlotte to take on Queens at 5 p.m.
