ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Eagles rallied from a four-run deficit and scored twice in the eighth inning to pull away for a 9-7 victory over Radford on Sunday afternoon, completing its first Big South opening series sweep since 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Radford jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first as Devin Parks crushed a three-run homer to deep right and Mason Self added an RBI single
- Hernandez answered with a two-run homer to deep right in the bottom of the first and Benhardt doubled home Norton to cut it to 4-3
- Radford pushed the lead back to 6-3 with single runs in the second and third on a Parks RBI groundout and a Carrington Aaron sacrifice fly
- Wouters tripled down the right field line in the third and McGuire delivered a two-run single to left to make it 6-5
- Harrison Wilson relieved Randy Guzman and threw three scoreless innings to keep Winthrop within striking distance
- Benhardt doubled home Norton in the fifth and McGuire followed with an RBI double down the left field line to give Winthrop its first lead at 7-6
- Breckin Nace tied it at 7-7 with an RBI single in the eighth after Noah Toole walked and stole second
- McGuire doubled to lead off the bottom of the eighth, Crowley bunted him to third and Grossington singled home the go-ahead run before Wouters added an RBI groundout for a 9-7 cushion
- McNeely retired the side in the ninth, inducing a game-ending double play to finish off the sweep
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McNeely earned his third win with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief
- Wilson was the key arm out of the bullpen with three scoreless frames after Guzman allowed six runs in two innings
- McGuire went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, delivering in every big spot
- Hernandez has now homered in five of his last eight games
- Wouters pushed his hitting streak to ten straight games
- Winthrop improved to 14-6 overall and 3-0 in Big South play with its first conference opening sweep in seven years
