Rock Hill, S.C. – Kody Clouet's go-ahead three with 58.1 seconds left propelled Winthrop its 10
th straight win after a 79-74 victory over Longwood, Saturday afternoon inside the Winthrop Coliseum.

FIRST HALF
- The Eagles got on the board first as Isaiah Wilson penetrated the paint and dished to Tommy Kamarad for a wide open layup
- Kamarad scored again as he boarded his own miss with a stickback for a 4-0 lead
- Longwood grabbed its first lead of the game at the 13:58 mark when Alphonzo Billups III knocked down a short jumper
- Eagles regained the lead after Kamarad scored inside, but it was short lived as Jaylen Benard dropped in a left wing three for a 10-8 advantage
- Kamarad scored eight of the team's first 10 points as he converted two technical free throws to tie the game at 10-10 with 12:48 left in the half
- Eagles built a six point lead after a three from Kody Clouet and Logan Duncomb going 1-for-2 at the line
- Duncomb made two free throws with 7:18 left in the half to give the Eagles another six point lead
- Billups III highlighted a 6-0 spurt that brought the game back to a tie at 24-24 with 5:20 on the clock
- Leading 26-25, Pharrell Boyogueno stole the ball and went the distance for an And 1 with a 4:15 on the clock
- Boyogueno stepped up and made the free throw to complete the three-point play to lead 29-25
- Two free throws with four seconds left in the half gave the Eagles a 38-35 lead at the break
SECOND HALF
- Longwood used a 9-0 run to take a 44-40 lead with 16:11 remaining
- Johan Nziemi started the run with a triple and then battled his way into the post for a layup to take the lead followed by a second-chance bucket from Emanuel Richards
- Josh Meo stopped the run as he buried a three from the left wing followed by a straight away three from Clouet to put the Eagles back in the lead 46-44 with 15:31 left
- Elijah Jones' layup put Longwood in front 53-52 at the 10:16 mark
- The Lancers held the lead over the next three minutes and even pushed the lead to 58-54 with 8:46 on the clock
- Clouet tied the game with 7:08 as he was fouled in transition and converted both free throws to make it 60-60
- Winthrop took the lead with 4:02 to play, 67-66 after Wilson knocked down two free throws
- Redd Thompson Jr. put Longwood back on top on the ensuing possession as he dribbled into the paint and dropped in a floater
- It was tied again with 1:16 to play when the Lancers were whistled for an offensive foul
- On the ensuing possession for the Eagles, Kareem Rozier whipped a pass to Clouet on the left wing and he banged home a three to lead 74-71 with 58.1 left
- With 48.9 left in the game, Longwood earned free throws as Nziemi went to the line and hit 1-of-2
- The second free bounced out to the right and after a couple of tips Rozier secured the rebound and was fouled
- Rozier went to the line with 46.6 left as he made both for a four point advantage at 76-72
- Eagles got a defensive stop on the next possession as Duncomb boarded the miss and eventually got the ball in the hands of Clouet who was fouled with 27.5 remaining
- Clouet made both to lead 78-72 and the Eagles held on 79-74
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop shot 38 percent from the floor while Longwood finished at 38 percent
- The two teams combined for 75 free throw attempts as the Eagles were an impressive 35-of-40 at the line while Longwood was 22-of-35
- Longwood outrebounded the Eagles 42-35 and 11-5 on the offensive glass
- Neither team shot well from three as each connected on six while Longwood finished at 24 percent the Eagles shot 21 percent
- Tommy Kamarad led four Eagles in double-figures with a game-high 15 points as Clouet and Duncomb had 14 and Meo chipped in with 10
NOTABLES
- The win was the 10th straight for the Eagles, tying the longest win streak in the Mark Prosser Era
- It was also the ninth straight win at home as the Eagles improve to 11-1 at the Winthrop Coliseum this season
- Eagles have now won 18 of the last 20 regular season Big South contests
