Radford, Va. – Logan Duncomb's stick back with two seconds remaining lifted Winthrop to an 80-78 road win at Radford, Wednesday evening in Big South Conference action.
WINTHROP (17-8, 9-1 Big South)
- Logan Duncomb (17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals)
- Kody Clouet (17 points, 4 rebounds, assist, 2 steals)

RADFORD (13-12, 6-3 Big South)
- Del Jones (21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, steal)

FIRST HALF
- The first bucket of the game came at the 18:14 mark as Kody Clouet got the ball inside to Logan Duncomb who laid it in for the early lead
- Duncomb found Seifeldin Hendawy under the rim as he scored to tie the game at 5-5
- On the ensuing possession for the Eagles, Clouet dished to Josh Meo for three and 8-5 advantage at the 16:52 mark
- The three was answered by Lukas Walls for the Highlanders to the game
- Clouet got in on the scoring as Meo found him on the left wing trailing the play and he popped it for an 11-8 lead
- Dennis Parker Jr. responded with a three for Radford as the game was again tied with 15:17 to play in the half (11-11)
- Kareem Rozier knocked down a deep, straight away three for a 14-11 advantage
- The back-and-forth trend continued for over the next seven minutes
- Eagles built a four point lead with after Tommy Kamarad dropped in a short jumper and then Duncomb made two free throws lead 28-24 with 7:20 remaining
- The lead increased to eight points with 6:07 left after a three from Isaiah Wilson and then a Pharrell Boyogueno steal and finish at the other end to lead 33-25
- Then Boyogueno put the Eagles in front by nine after he drilled a corner three with 4:11 left
- Eagles had a six point advantage into the locker room, 42-36
SECOND HALF
- Radford cut the Winthrop lead to 46-44 with 18 minutes left when Rozier answered with a three
- Eagles pushed their lead to double-digits after Duncomb scored inside off a feed from Hendawy
- Highlanders made it a one point game with 8:36 to play as Del Jones finished with a dunk
- Radford turned into an 11-0 run as Parker Jr. knocked down a turn around fade away followed by a Brennan Rigsby scored at the rim to lead 72-69
- Eagles fell behind 75-71 when Duncomb found Clouet on the right wing for three followed by two free throws from Meo to put the Eagles back in front
- Rozier gave the Eagles a three-point lead (78-75) when he drove right down the middle of the lane and scored off glass in traffic with 4:06 to play
- It was a tie game at 78-78 with 25 seconds to play as the Eagles called a timeout to set up play for the final shot of regulation
- Eagles got the ball into Duncomb as he missed his initial shot but boarded the miss and scored on the stick back with 2.6 seconds remaining
- Radford called timeout and out of the inbound play Duncomb stole the ball near midcourt to secure the victory
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop stepped up its shooting in the second half, knocking down 54 percent and finishing the game at 48 percent
- Eagles held Radford to 42 percent shooting, 30 percent behind the arc
- Radford won the advantage on the glass 41-35 while the Eagles finished with a 38-32 edge in the paint
- Josh Meo's 11 points paced the Eagle bench that contributed 11 points
- Duncomb led the Eagles in points with 18, rebounds (12) and had a team-high and career-high five assists
NOTABLES
- Eagles extended their winning streak to nine in a row, the ninth longest streak in program history
- Duncomb posted his 10th double-double of the season and it was his 11th game with 10 or more
- Winthrop has now won 17 of the last 19 Big South regular season contests
- This was the second straight win over Radford on a game-winning shot with two seconds remaining
