ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Jaylen Hernandez launched a two-run homer to break a tie in the sixth inning, as Winthrop's bullpen threw 4.2 scoreless innings as the Eagles topped Maine, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at Founders Field for their sixth consecutive victory.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Winthrop struck first in the opening frame as Gabe Natividad was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch and a throwing error by the Maine catcherÂ
- Alan Benhardt singled to right to keep the inning going, and after a groundout and a Hernandez walk, Wouters lined an RBI single to right to plate Benhardt and make it 2-0Â
- Luke Earnhardt cruised through the first three innings, striking out five and allowing just two hits before Maine broke through in the fourthÂ
- Juju Stevens doubled to left and Albert De La Rosa singled to put runners at second and third before Troy Carpenter ripped a two-run double to right center to tie the game at 2-2Â
- Walker Brodt entered with one out in the fifth and retired two batters to strand a runner, and Colby McNeely struck out the side in order in the sixth to keep the game knottedÂ
- Ethan Wilson singled to right center to lead off the bottom of the sixth and Hernandez jumped on the first pitch, driving a two-run homer to deep right to snap the tie at 4-2Â
- Chet Bowling added a sacrifice fly later in the inning after Grossington singled to move Colin Crowley to third, extending the lead to 5-2Â
- The Eagles tacked on two more in the seventh as Wilson singled, stole second and came around to score on a Gage Handzel bases-loaded HBP before a Maine fielding error allowed another run to crossÂ
- Dylan Hansen worked two scoreless innings to close it out, stranding runners in both the eighth and ninth to preserve the victoryÂ

- McNeely earned his first win of the season with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out threeÂ
- Winthrop's bullpen of Brodt, McNeely and Hansen combined for 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out fourÂ
- Grossington collected three hits for the second straight game, continuing his hot stretch at the plateÂ
- Hernandez has homered in back-to-back games and continues to be Winthrop's most dangerous bat in the middle of the orderÂ
