HOW IT HAPPENED
- Natividad doubled down the left field line to start the first and Skowronski walked before Norton's sacrifice bunt attempt was thrown away by Morehead State starter Kamden Hawks to load the bases with nobody out
- McGuire and Alan Benhardt drew back-to-back RBI walks to make it 2-0 before Wouters and Jaylen Hernandez delivered consecutive RBI singles to push it to 4-0
- A Noah Cox hit-by-pitch forced in another run and chased Hawks, who failed to record an out while allowing eight runs — seven earned — on three hits and three walks
- Reliever Cole Wells surrendered a Chazz Grossington sacrifice fly and a wild pitch scored Hernandez to make it 7-0 before Norton ripped a two-run double down the left field line
- McGuire added a sacrifice fly and Wouters capped the frame with another RBI single as Winthrop batted around the order and scored 11 runs on six hits in the opening inning
- Morehead State got one back in the second on back-to-back singles by Aubrey Kearns and Brayton Coomer followed by a Davis Germann RBI single, but Earnhardt struck out the next two batters to limit the damage
- Winthrop added two in the third on a Benhardt RBI groundout and a Wouters RBI single to make it 13-1
- The Eagles loaded the bases again in the fourth on a Natividad HBP, Skowronski walk and Norton HBP before McGuire's RBI groundout and a Morehead State fielding error pushed the lead to 16-1
- Jaden Hart tripled and Caden Sheridan hit a two-run homer to deep center in the fifth to cut it to 16-3
- McGuire lifted his second sacrifice fly of the day in the sixth to make it 17-3
- Noah Berge launched a two-run homer to deep left in the seventh, for his first career hit and home run, to cap the Winthrop scoring at 19-3
- Will Bomersbach added a pinch-hit solo homer in the ninth off Leo Vitarelli for the final margin
