Jaylen Hernandez drove in three runs as Winthrop rolled to a 10-0 shutout of Morehead State on Friday afternoon at Founders Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gabe Natividad was hit by a pitch to start the first and scored on an Alan Benhardt RBI single down the right field line
- Grant McGuire singled to center to put two on, and Hernandez ripped a two-run double to left to make it 3-0
- A Morehead State fielding error on the next play allowed Hernandez to score for a 4-0 lead after one
- Gilley retired the side in order in three of his first four innings, striking out 10 while scattering four hits
- Winthrop loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth on a Wouters single, Crowley walk and Greenberg RBI single before a Natividad HBP chased starter Landon Waugh
- Skowronski greeted reliever Carter Owens with a two-run single to right to push it to 7-0
- The Eagles loaded the bases again in the sixth and forced in two runs on consecutive HBPs to Skowronski and Benhardt to make it 9-0
- Hernandez launched a solo homer to deep right in the seventh for the final margin
- Evan Vandenbosch and Casey Culbreth combined for three scoreless innings of relief to complete the shutout

- Gilley earned his second win with a career-high 10 strikeouts on just 78 pitches over six innings
- Hernandez accounted for three RBI, doubling home a pair in the first and adding a solo shot in the seventh
- Winthrop was hit by a pitch five times, bringing the season total to 28 HBP through five games
- Morehead State went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 baserunners
- Waugh took the loss after allowing seven runs on five hits in 3.2 innings
