KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Winthrop endured a tough day at the Food City Center on Friday, dropping back-to-back matches to Wofford and host Tennessee as the Eagles slipped to 2-4 on the season.

Set 1
- Bowen opened Winthrop's scoring with a kill with Jolley sparking the attack with multiple kills in the first rotation
- Bowen and Sychterz combined for a block to give the Eagles a 7-5 lead
- Wofford rattled off the next six points, now sitting in front 12-7
- The Terriers continued to run away with the contest in the first set, reaching 20 points first at a mark of 20-9
- Winthrop attempted to claw back, tallying nine of the next twelve points, but it was too little too late in the first set
Set 2
- Kills early from Glover and Little was not enough to stop the Terriers run, having the score sit at 6-2
- Both teams would trade blows, seeing Winthrop within one point at 12-11
- The Terriers then stepped on the gas, beating the Eagles to 20 again and getting help from Winthrop errors at key moments to take the second set, 25-17
Set 3
- Winthrop took their first lead since Set 1, after kills from up the middle and on the pin, sitting at a 5-4 lead
- Once again, the two squads would play tag with each other, with the Terriers coming out with the lead following kills and attack errors, 12-8
- Wofford for the final time pulled away after hitting a match-best 0.394 percent in the final set, taking it 25-18

Set 1
- Eagles captured the first two points of the match from a kill and service ace
- Lady Vols then turned on the jets, jumping out to a 10-5 lead
- Winthrop and Tennessee traded blows, with big kills coming from Jolley and Little
- Tennessee donated a pair at the line to keep Winthrop within reach, but the Vols closed with terminal swings to take the set.
Set 2
- The Eagles opened on a UT error and leaned on their middles to trade blows through the first third
- Eagles swung the momentum in their direction, with all their points coming from swings to see the game sit at 11-10
- Winthrop gave away two points on service errors, while Tennessee landed three aces, two targeting Matthews in the seam and one on Jolley
- Trading serves, the Volunteers captured the final two points of the set for the second tally
Set 3
- Jolley struck first ball from Murray, and Torain's serve produced an immediate error for a 2-0 cushion.
- A rough patch from the Eagles attack led to the Vols out way in front 11-5 forcing a Winthrop timeout
- Tennessee forced Winthrop into hitting a match-low -0.059, eventually holding a ten-point cushion
- The Lady Vols took the set, 25-13, and the match, 3-0

The Eagles are back in the action next week heading to Furman for the Furman Invite on Thursday, taking on North Florida on Sept. 11 at 3:00 p.m.
