Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop midfielder Lindsay Sheet has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Sheets started and played 58 minutes in the 3-2 loss to USC Upstate on Sept. 20. Sheets put the Eagles in front 2-1 in the 53
rd minute when she spun off a defender just outside the 18 and then beat the keeper with a rip to the left side of the goal.
So far this season Sheets has appeared in all nine contests with two starts and leads the team with five points. Sheets now has a goal in two of the last three contests.
This is the Eagles second conference weekly honor of the year as
Cordelia McIntosh was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 25. This is the first freshman of the week for an Eagle since
Cameron Celce on Sept. 16, 2024.
