Game Recap
- First scoring opportunity for both teams came in the 9th minute as a corner kick by VMI ended up at the feet of Isabella Franco who fired a shot toward frame that was tipped over the bar by Mia Vrataric
- In the 19th minute Evyn Schokora sent a long ball into the box as Monssi Avila-Gutierrez ran on and flicked a shot toward goal but VMI keeper Maren Ryberg was there for the save
- In the 43rd minute the Eagles created another opportunity as Lauren Kelly played a ball behind the VMI defense into the box
- Cordelia McIntosh ran on and gained control as she cut back to her right foot and fired a shot from an angle toward the upper part of the goal but Ryberg made the save to keep it scoreless
- VMI nearly struck first in the 48th minute as Cadee Hegarty's shot from inside the area was tipped and off the post by Sofia Iori for the save and the defense cleared the ball out
- Winthrop had a good chance around 20 seconds later as Sophia Balliet played a ball in front of goal as Kelly ran on but couldn't quite get around on it as the shot sailed over the bar
- Eagles created a chance in the 55th minute as Sophia Balliet dribbled into the box and fired a shot that was turned away by a kick save from Ryberg
- Another service by Balliet created an opportunity in the 57th minute as McIntosh was on the other end with her head but the shot was right at the keeper
- Eagles had a strong build up in the 86th minute that saw McIntosh on the end of a cross in front of goal but the header was wide left of goal
- Another good chance to take the lead came in the 89th minute as a ball served into the box found Lindsay Sheets but her shot was blocked as it came out to McIntosh just inside the edge of the 18 and her shot was wide left of the lower left corner

- The Eagles now have a three-game unbeaten streak
- This was just the second tie in 18 meetings between the Eagles and Keydets the other coming Nov. 6, 2009 in the Big South Conference Tournament
- Winthrop had a 14-10 advantage in shots and 7-4 in shots on goal
- McIntosh led the Eagles with five shots while Kelly finished with four
- Eagles defense helps earned back-to-back shutouts for the first time since early in the 2024 season
- It is the second straight matchup the Eagles have held VMI scoreless and sixth time in the history of the series
