NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Winthrop lacrosse sophomore Janie Spicer has been named one of the six recipients for the 2025 Trina Mangano Scholarship, awarded by the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee.
Selected for their participation in a College Player Officials Academy (CPOA) event and their demonstrated dedication to pursuing officiating opportunities in the sport, this year's scholarship honorees are Victoria Cini, Chloe Denhart, Alexandra Gottlieb, Brooke Gottlieb, Yasmin Grant, and Janie Spicer.
"Our committee is excited to honor this group for their commitment to the sport through the vessel of officiating." stated Stephanie Allen, Binghamton University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and Chair of the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee. "Trina Mangano was instrumental in supporting the growth of the game, and this year's scholarship recipients exemplify that same level of dedication—eager to impact the next generation. We look forward to seeing these newly certified officials out on the field very soon, staying involved and connected to the game they all love."
Spicer said she was honored to receive the scholarship established in memory of Trina Mangano. Spicer added that the award comes with a responsibility to uphold Mangano's legacy and her commitment to growing the game through quality officiating.
