Game Recap
- Winthrop's best opportunity of the first half came in the 41st minute as Lauren Kelly played a ball just outside the edge of the box as Ally Bender received and flicked a ball toward goal as Monssi Avila-Gutierrez tracked it
- Avila Guitierrez spun around to strike a shot on frame but right at the goalkeeper for the save
- Bulldogs struck first as they snagged the lead just before the half with a goal in the 44th minute
- While the Bulldogs had more scoring opportunities over the first 25-30 minutes of the second half, the Eagles continued to fight and the hard work paid off
- Eagles had a good chance to draw level in the 76th minute as a ball served into the box found Kelly at the back post but her shot to the lower near corner was saved
- In the 80th minute Cordelia McIntosh passed the ball to Lindsey Sheets in the box with her back to goal who played it backward on her first touch as Avila-Gutierrez ran on and ripped a shot past the keeper to tie the match
- The Eagles pushed for another and it came in the 88th minute as Bender's pressure forced a poor pass to the middle as McIntosh ran on, collected the ball inside the box and slotted a left footed shot into the lower right corner for the game-winner

- Early in the second half there was a 35 minute lightning delay
- The goal for McIntosh was the first of her collegiate career, as was the assist
- Eagles improve to 9-9-5 all-time in home openers
- The goal for Avila Gutierrez was the first of the season and seventh of her career
- Sofia Iori started the second half and finished with two saves

Eagles are back in action on Monday, Aug. 25 when they take on Southern Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
