Nelson, Lutz Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop men's golfers Jeff Nelson and Logan Lutz were recognized for academic excellence as both were named 2024-25 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
This is the first time being selected for Nelson and Lutz, who were both key factors on the 2024-25 Winthrop men's golf team.

Nelson earned the Newcomer of the Year honors and named to First Team All-Conference as he led the team in scoring average (72.19), which was third-best in the Big South. Nelson's season was highlighted by captured medalist honors at the Dorado Beach Collegiate. He also had three Top 10 finishes and finished in the Top 15 six times.

In the Dorado Beach Collegiate, Nelson posted a 7-under 65 in the opening round which was one shot off tying the program record for low round. On the year he finished with 14 rounds of par or better.

Lutz was named to the 2024-25 Big South All-Academic Team. He is majoring in sport management and has been a member of the dean's list. The 2023-24 Big South All-Freshman Team selection had a collegiate-best scoring average of 74.25, fourth best on the team. Lutz had a season-best T5 finish at the Peoples Golf Championship in which he posted a first round 64 (-7), one shot of tying the program record for low round. In the event he posted a collegiate 54-hole low of 208 (-5). Lutz also had a T8 finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

This is the seventh year in a role that the Eagles have had multiple players receive the honor.
