Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop won their fifth straight contest in the re-match with the Terriers at home Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• H. Wilson's RBI double down the left field line gave the Eagles the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second
• Wofford tied the score in the top of the fifth on Hardin's single to shortstop with one out
• Eagles broke the tie on H. Wilson's second RBI double on the night in the seventh
• Two runs scored on the play
• On the next play Chazz Grossington's RBI single drove in Colin Crowley and extended Winthrop's lead to 4-1
• In the top of the eighth, Wofford cut the lead to two on Wiley's leadoff homer down the left field line
• But Winthrop took it right back up to three in their half of the frame as Jaylen Hernandez came in to score from second on an error by the Terriers
• Wofford cut it to two once again in the ninth on Hardin's RBI single to right center field with one out but the next two batters were retired to end the night

Winthrop has the rest of the week off due to final exams but will return to action next Wednesday on May 7 for a re-match at The Citadel. The game will start at 6:00 p.m. on will be televised on ESPN+
