Charleston, S.C. – Winthrop dropped a tight midweek contest at The Citadel Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Eagles took a 1-0 lead immediately to start the day on Koby Kropf's sac fly to center field, scoring Gabe Natividad on the play
• The Citadel tied the game on Hausner's RBI single through the right side in their half of the first with one out
• In the next inning the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead with one out on Lively's RBI single to left center field
• E. Wilson led off the fifth for the Eagles with a home run to left center field to knot things up at 2-2
• But in the bottom of the inning Anderson's sac fly to left field brought in Tobin and broke the tie
• The Citadel extended their lead to four with a three-run sixth
• Jaylen Hernandez's RBI single up the middle with two outs in the top of the seventh brought in Chazz Grossington and cut the margin to three

TEAM TIDBITS

• Winthrop moves to 1,408-1,022-7 all-time as a program
• Winthrop's five-game win streak was snapped with the loss
• Wilson had the lone homer of the game for the Eagles
