Greenville, S.C. – Winthrop concluded the regular-season with a loss to the Paladins on the road Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was tied at 1-1 at the 8:24 mark after a man-up goal on the free position by Scarlet Cifarelli
- Furman answered with three straight goals but Tori Iannotti scored on the man-up on the free position with 2:19 left in the first quarter
- Furman ended the frame with two straight goals to lead 6-2
- Christina Warren scored on the man-up on the free position almost immediately to start the second quarter but the Paladins went on a 7-0 run to take a 13-3 lead with five minutes left in the stanza
- Madison Mayer ended the run with a goal at the 4:42 mark
- Furman would lead 15-4 at the half
- Olivia Paton and Jane Tattersall each scored a goal to open the second half for the Eagles and making the score 16-6 in favor of the Paladins at the 7:29 mark
- Furman led 18-7 going into the fourth quarter
- Cifarelli's goal with 13:07 left in the contest was her 40th of the season
- The Paladins scored the next three goals after that
- Grace Herrero scored her first goal of the season with five minutes left in the game
- Furman scored one more goal to wrap up the scoring

- Winthrop finishes regular season competition 4-4 in Big South play, their most wins in the conference since 2019 when the Eagles also won four Big South games
