Tori Iannotti's seven goals lead the Eagles in a close loss in the first round of the 2025 Big South Lacrosse Tournament Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Winthrop led 8-5 at the 2:39 mark after Tori Iannotti's third goal of the first quarter
- Eagles also led by four on two occasions in the frame
- Wofford quickly rallied to tie the score at 8-8 with 13:34 left in the second quarter
- Jane Tattersall broke the tie on the free position with 5:58
- Wofford responded with three straight goals to take an 11-9 lead with 4:32 left in the half
- Tattersall and Cifarelli then tied it at 11 with nearly a minute left only to have the Terriers score with 12 seconds left to take a 12-11 lead going into the locker room
- The Terriers scored the first two goals of the second half to go up by three, but Iannotti made it a two-point game at the 11:07 mark
- Wofford answered with five straight goals to extend their lead to 17-12 two minutes later
- Christina Warren got two goals, Iannotti scored another and Madison Mayer scored to cut it to one with 4:01 left in the third quarter
- Wofford scored three of the next four goals to take a 20-17 lead with 7:44 remaining
- Iris Leavitt and Iannotti scored to cut it to one with 3:26 left but the Eagles couldn't complete the comeback, ending their 2025 season
