Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop dominated the second half in the home finale with Longwood Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started 2-2 at the 4:14 mark of the first quarter
- Winthrop answered with five of the next seven goals to take a 7-4 lead with 8:57 remaining in the half
- Longwood quickly cut it to two with five minutes left in the second quarter
- Eagles then scored the final three goals of the half to take a 10-6 lead
- Starting with those final three goals, Winthrop would outscore the Lancers 15-3 the rest of the way
- Winthrop also outscored the Lancers 9-1 in the third quarter
- During both the third and into the fourth quarter, Winthrop scored nine straight goals
