Radford, Va. – Winthrop softball opened its Big South Conference series at league-leading Radford with a 7-0 loss, Friday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagles threatened in the top of the first as they got runners at second and third with two outs but were unable to take advantage
- Radford broke through first with six runs across in the bottom of the fourth
- The Highlanders got the first two batters on and then Isabel Harrison and Rachel Smith moved to second and third with a stolen base
- Then both came home to score on a single to center by Grace Bechtol and then Klara Van Beuge delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded as well
- Radford added to the lead after a flare to right center by Amanda Lee fell in between the outfielders closing in, allowing two more runs to score on the play for a 6-0 lead
- Kelly Feigen added another run for the Highlanders in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to deep right field
EXTRA BASES
- There were 12 total hits in the game, but just one for extra bases
- Beck has a hit in two straight games and now nine of the last 12
ON DECK
Winthrop and Radford wrap up the weekend series on Saturday, Apr. 19 with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
