Beck's Walk-Off Home Run Lifts Eagles Over Terriers In Extras

Rock Hill, S.C. – Katie Beck hit a two-run walk-off home run to lead Winthrop to a 7-6 victory over Wofford College, Tuesday evening at Terry Field

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Wofford struck first as Brianna Stanley led off the second inning with a home run to center field
  • Terriers threatened to add more but the Eagles held strong
  • With runners at the corners the Eagles got a ground ball to short and Grayson Buckner immediately threw home getting the runner at the plate to keep it a 1-0 game
  • Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the third as Emma Jackson homered to left center
  • In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles grabbed a 3-1 lead as Grayson Buckner hit a two-run home run to left center
  • Katie Beck hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 lead
  • Wofford pushed four runs across in the top of the seventh to take the lead behind back-to-back home runs by Abby Gossett and Kaytlin Greenwood
  • Eagles tied the game and forced extra innings on a two-out RBI double by Tia Beckham
  • Wofford scored in the top of the eighth to take a 6-5 lead
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Peyton Bryden was placed on second and Beck stepped up and delivered a walk-off home run to center
EXTRA BASES
  • Jackson's home run in the third inning was the 100th RBI of her collegiate career
  • Beck's first home run of the game set a new single-season record for home runs by a freshman
  • Beckham and Beck reached 30 RBI for the season, giving the Eagles three players with 30
  • It's the first time since the 2017 season the Eagles have had at least three players with 30 RBI in a season
