HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the first two innings, the Eagles put guys in scoring position but a flyout and a strikeout ended their shot to get on the scoreboard first
• In the bottom of the second, Seymour's double down the left field line brought in Dresselhouse with one out and gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead
• Michigan State made it 4-0 in the next inning, both with no one out on Busch's RBI groundout and Berry's two-run homer
• The Spartans nearly tacked on another run in the fourth with a guy on third but a strikeout ended the threat
• The exact same situation occurred in the bottom of the sixth
• The Spartans extended their lead to six in the next stanza on an error and Winthrop walking in a run
• Williams ended the night in the eighth with a home run to make the score 7-0

TEAM TIDBITS

• Winthrop moves to 1,389-1,007-7 all-time as a program
• This was the second of two straight contests at Fluor Field
• This was the second time this season the Eagles have played on a neutral site
