Megan Powell's grand slam helped Winthrop earn an 8-0 victory over Charleston Southern in the opening game of its Big South Conference series.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Emma Jackson was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the first and moved to second on a wild pitch
- Megan Powell followed with a single to left center to put runners at the corners
- Peyton Bryden reached on a fielder's choice as the Bucs got Powell at second on the force out
- Jackson came around to score when Peyton Bryden stole second the throw went to the outfield and Jackson raced home for a 1-0 lead
- Tia Beckham made it 2-0 as she singled up the middle to score Bryden from second
- Tabitha Perry, Emma Roberson and Jackson drew 1-out walks back-to-back in the bottom of the second to load the bases
- Powell stepped in and took the first pitch over the center field fence for a grand slam and a 6-0 lead
- Eagles added two more runs in the third as Perry scored on a delay steal home and Katie Beck scored Jackson on an infield single
EXTRA BASES
- Beck extended her hitting streak to five games while Jackson extended her streak of reaching base to six games
- Powell's grand slam was the first by an Eagle since Macy McCall hit a walk-off grand slam on Mar. 11, 2023 in a 7-4 win over Cleveland State
