HOW IT HAPPENED

• Eagles burst out to an immediate 3-0 lead, all on consecutive play and with one out
• The three runs in the bottom of the first were RBI singles by Yearsley and Skowronski and Chazz Grossington's sac fly to right field
• Winthrop exploded in the third with six runs to up their margin to 9-0
• The home team's pitching also held the Red Storm to 1-2-3 innings in the first four innings
• St. John's got on the board in the top of the fifth on a two-run shot to left field by Agresti
• The Red Storm then scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-9 lead and Tucker's RBI single in the next inning scored Orbon and gave them a two-run margin
• In the bottom of the eighth, the Eagles got guys on second and third with two outs, but Yearsley flew out to end the threat
