Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop men's golf earned two Big South weekly honors as
Logan Lutz was named the Big South Golfer of the Week while
Dallas Johnson was tabbed the Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.
Lutz finished 5
th at the Peoples Golf Championship as he finished the event 5-under, which was his collegiate-low for 54 holes. Lutz opened the event with a 7-under 64, which was one stroke off the program record for low round. He led the team in Par 3 and Par 4 scoring.
Johnson had a Top 20 finish as he was tied for 16
th. He posted a 214 (2-over), which matches his low 54-hole total which he set in the previous tournament at the Dorado Beach Collegiate. Johnson led the team and was second among the field in Par 5 scoring (-6). This is the second straight even Johnson had a Top 20 finish and his second Freshman of the Week honors.
This is the third time this season that the Eagles have garnered Golfer of the Week honors and the third time for Freshman of the Week.
