Rock Hill, S.C. – For the second time this season Winthrop senior
Megan Powell has been named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Powell won both appearances in the circle in the series vs. Longwood. Opened the series tossing a complete game of five innings allowing just two hits with four walks and three strikeouts. In the second start of the weekend she closed out the series with a complete game allowing one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts for her 9

This is the first time the Eagles have had a pitcher earn the weekly honor twice in the same season since
Reese Basinger did twice in 2023. It's just the second time since 2018.
This marks the fifth conference weekly honor for the Eagles this season and third for pitcher of the week.
