Rock Hill, S.C. – Nate Chronis led Winthrop with three RBI's as the Eagles dropped a tight affair to Notre Dame in the first game of a two-game series with the Fighting Irish Tuesday night, 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Notre Dame took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third on a bunt single by DM Jefferson, an RBI groundout by Noah Coy and an RBI triple down the right field line by Bino Watters
• Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on Nate Chronis's two-run RBI single to right field with two out
• The visitors tacked on a run in the top of the sixth as Estevan Moreno came in to score on a wild pitch with two outs
• Winthrop again cut the lead to one with one out in their half of the frame as Chronis reached on a fielder's choice but was able to bring in Ethan Wilson on the play
• The Fighting Irish made the score 5-3 in the seventh when Parker Brzustewicz tripled down the right field line to score Coy with one out
• Notre Dame then extended their lead to three on a Brady Gumpf solo shot to left field with two outs in the next inning to wrap up the scoring
