Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop fell to Charlotte at home Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charlotte scored the first eight goals
- Tori Iannotti got the Eagles on the board with 10:15 left in the second quarter
- After a score by the visitors, Iannotti responded with two straight goals of her own in two minutes, making the score 9-3 with 5:57 left in the half
- The 49ers scored the next two goals to take an eight-point lead heading into the break
- The visitors outscored Winthrop 4-1 in the third period to go up 15-4
- Winthrop controlled the fourth quarter and finished the game strong, outscoring Charlotte 4-2 in the frame
- The final tally of the game came with 52 seconds remaining as Audrey Argonish scored her first goal as an Eagle
