Berry's 22 Leads Eagles In Win Over Clinton College

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop had five players in double-figures en route to a 107-41 victory over Clinton College, Sunday afternoon inside the Winthrop Coliseum.
 
WINTHROP (8-6, 0-0 Big South)
  • Dalen Berry (22 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists)
  • Logan Duncomb (14 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, block, 2 steals)
  • Tommy Kamarad (14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, block, 3 steals)
CLINTON COLLEGE (9-4, 0-0 NCCAA)
  • Jordan Snipes Campbell (8 points, 2 assists, 2 steals)
  • Daquan Amlett (6 points, 3 rebounds, steal)
  • Kipp Richvine (Isaiah Border (10 points, 2 rebounds, assist, steal)

FIRST HALF
  • Eagles won the opening tip and scored on the first possession as Tommy Kamarad found Daylen Berry under the basket for the easy two
  • Berry scored on the break for a 5-0 lead and then a corner three from Isaiah Wilson made it nine straight points to open the game, forcing a timeout by Clinton College
  • Berry made it a 13-0 run as Josh Meo found him in the corner for a three
  • The Golden Bears first bucket came at the 12:59 mark as Daquan Amlett nailed a right wing three
  • Back-to-back threes by Kamarad pushed the Eagles lead to 18 (27-9) at the 9:22 mark
  • The lead grew to 31 with 2:23 left as Ed Nnamoko with an And 1 as he completed the three-point play
  • Winthrop led 49-16 at the break as it shot 55 percent and was 7-of-15 behind the arc

SECOND HALF
  • Eagles opened the second half with back-to-back threes from Clouet and Berry
  • Winthrop scored the first 11 points of the second half to extend the lead to 41 at the 17:12 mark as Berry hit another three to cap off the run
  • The lead pushed to over 50 at 77-25 as Kamarad hit another corner three at the 11:44 mark
  • That was part of an 18-0 run by the Eagles midway through the half

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Eagles finished the game shooting 58 percent as they were 14-of-28 from three
  • Winthrop held Clinton College to 23 percent shooting, 4-for-21 behind the arc (19 percent)
  • The battle on the boards was dominated by the Eagles 63-23 as Winthrop hauled in 17 offensive boards leading to 17 points
  • Berry led the Eagles in scoring at 22 points followed by Duncomb and Kamarad with 14
  • Duncomb led the team with a career-high 14 rebounds as he posted his fourth double-double
  • Joining them in double-figures were Seifeldin Hendawy with 12 points and Kody Clouet added 11
  • Midway through the first half there was a stretch between the two teams of seven out of nine field goals coming behind the arc

NOTABLES
  • Eagles held Clinton College to 16 points in the first half, the fewest Winthrop has held an opponent in a first half since holding Charleston Southern to 13 on Feb. 7, 2024
  • Winthrop has now hit the century mark in five home games this season
  • Dished out a season-high 26 assists, the most since Jan. 16, 2020 at Hampton (26)
