Brooklyn, N.Y. – Kody Clouet's tip-in at the buzzer lifted Winthrop to a 94-92 overtime win at LIU, Tuesday night in non-conference men's basketball action.

FIRST HALF
- Daylen Berry got the Eagles off to a quick lead as he drove to the paint and dropped in a floater
- The game was tied 4-4 when Kody Clouet dropped in a left wing three as he drew the defender off his feet on a fake and then side stepped before splashing in the triple
- LIU took an 8-7 lead after a floater by Malachi Davis, but the Eagles answered with a three from Berry on the right wing
- Winthrop snagged a five point advantage at the 16:13 mark as Kareem Rozier nailed a three to lead 13-8
- Midway through the first half, Mason Porter-Brown made two free throws to tie the game at 20-20
- Winthrop regained the lead on a layup inside by Logan Duncomb off a feed from Clouet, which started a 6-0 run
- Jama Fuller ended the run with a bucket inside, but Rozier responded with a three and a 29-22 lead with just over eight minutes left in the half
- Winthrop pushed its lead to double-digits with 5:33 left in the half as Berry scored at the rim off a dish from Isaiah Wilson to lead 35-24
- A 5-0 run by the Sharks cut the Winthrop lead to single-digits with 2:06 left, but a left wing three by Rozier put the Eagles back on top by 11
- A three by Berry with eight seconds left put the Eagles up 47-37 at the break
SECOND HALF
- First points of the second half came nearly two minutes in as Porter-Brown found Jamal Fuller who finished with a dunk
- The Sharks chipped away at the Eagle lead and made it a two possession game at the 14:46 mark after three-point play from Fuller
- Rozier responded with a score off the drive to put the Eagles back on top by eight
- The Eagles lead was down to five with 12 and a half minutes remaining after Porter-Brown dropped in a three
- LIU used an 8-0 run to tied the game at 57-57 with 11:30 to play as Fuller capped the run with a three
- Duncomb ended the run as found him in the post for the slam and a 59-57 lead
- LIU led 62-59 after a score at the rim by Greg Gordon, but Tommy Kamarad tied the game with a three-point play with just under nine minutes remaining
- The game was knotted up at 67-67 when Davis dropped in a three to put LIU back in front
- Eagles trailed 72-69 with 5:15 remaining as Clouet stepped to the line for a one-and-one as he knocked down both to make it a one point game
- Back-to-back baskets inside by Duncomb put the Eagles in the lead again at 75-74 with 4:08 to play
- Two free throws by Gordon gave LIU a three-point advantage with 3:26 left
- Eagles answered on the ensuing possession as Rozier found Duncomb in the middle of the lane as he dropped in a short jumper for an And 1 as he converted the free throw to tie the game at 78-78 with 3:04 to play
- It was a tie game at 82-82 with 44.1 seconds left when Jomo Goings was fouled on an offensive rebound as he made both free throws for an 84-82 lead
- Rozier drove the lane and drew a foul with 30.3 seconds remaining as he went to the free throw line and made both attempts to tie it at 84-84
- Boyogueno blocked the final shot attempt in regulation to force overtime
OVERTIME
- Eagles scored first as Duncomb dropped in a hook shot
- Duncomb scored the first four points of overtime for the Eagles as they led 88-86 with 3:55 left
- Boyogueno went to the free throw line with 2:51 left as he made both to make it a two-possession game
- Fuller earned free throws with 1:46 to play as he made both to pull LIU within 90-88
- After two free throws from Berry, the Sharks came down and made it a 92-90 Winthrop lead after Gordon scored off the drive
- LIU tied the game at 92-92 with 31.8 seconds left with a short jumper in the paint by Gordon
- Eagles held for the final shot as Rozier drove to the basket, dished to Kamarad in the Paint as his shot bounced off the back iron and Clouet leaped to tip it in at the buzzer for the win
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop finished the game shooting 46 percent while the Sharks shot 52 percent from the floor
- The Eagles were 6-of-22 behind the arc while LIU was 8-of-17
- Eagles had a 37-36 edge on the glass and 16-12 advantage on the offensive boards
- Points in the paint favored the Eagles 52-42
- The two teams combined for 54 free throws as the Eagles were 24-of-29 and LIU finished 20-for-25
- Duncomb led all scorers with a career-high 28 points as he also hauled in six rebounds and had three blocks
- Duncomb was 1-of-3 Eagles in double-figures as Berry finished with 21 points and Rozier added 13
- Kamarad paced the bench as he finished with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds
NOTABLES
- This was the first non-conference overtime game on the road since Nov. 21, 2016 when the Eagles earned an 84-80 win at Illinois
- This happened to be the first non-conference road wins since the Illinois game as well
- Berry finished the game with five assists, his second straight game with five and he notched his third 20-point game of the season
