Logan Duncomb posted his first collegiate double-double with a career-high 21 points and career-best 10 boards to lead the Winthrop men's basketball team in a 72-66 loss at Coastal Carolina, Tuesday night.

FIRST HALF
- Joshua Beadle opened the scoring as he knocked down an open three on the games first possession
- Rasheed Jones followed that up as he drained a contested three from the right wing
- It was a 12-0 run to start for the Chanticleers they drained a three in each of the first four possessions
- The run came to an end was Logan Duncomb went 1-for-2 at the foul line, but that ignited a 12-0 response by the Eagles as Daylen Berry knocked down a left wing three and Josh Meo banged home a three from the right wing
- Berry's short jumper made it a one possession game and then Kareem Rozier's right wing triple tied the game at 12-12 with 14:20 left in the half
- Eagles trailed 25-18 when Rozier found Berry on the right wing as he drained a three with 9:16 remaining
- Chanticleers built their lead back to double-digits on a baseline drive and score by Beadle, but a quick three by Rozier had the deficit down to seven with 5:41 to play in the half
- Eagles did get the deficit down to seven at the break, 37-30
SECOND HALF
- Beadle opened the second half scoring as well with a finish at the rim on the opening possession
- The Eagles answered as Duncomb scored an And 1 and as he completed the three-point play to trail 39-33
- Off a turnover the Eagles took advantage as Berry finished on the break to make it a four-point game at 39-35
- Eagles made it a one point game at the 18:12 mark after Rozier drained a straight away three for an 8-0 run
- The Eagles hit a scoring drought of over three and a half minutes as Coastal was able to build its lead back up to seven points before Rozier ended the drought with a floater at the 14:10 mark
- A 5-0 spurt pushed the Chanticleer lead back to double-digits with 13:42 remaining, but a Duncomb second chance short jumper made it single digits again
- Eagles hit another scoring drought of over three minutes as Coastal pushed its lead to 14 points before Duncomb went to the line for a one-and-one as he connected on both free throws to trail 58-46 with just under nine minutes remaining
- A floater by Berry with 4:35 to play drew the Eagles within single-digits at 63-54
- With 4:16 to play in the game, Coastal was whistled for a flagrant one foul as Kody Clouet made 1-of-2 free throws to make it a 63-55 lead for the Chants
- Eagles retained possession after the Clouet free throw Clouet found Berry in the corner for three to make it a five-point game
- Rasheed Jones answered for Coastal with a short jumper in the paint, but the Eagles came right back to make it a two possession game as Berry connected on 1-of-2 free throws
- The Eagles were within four points with 1:53 left after Berry converted two free throws
- Coastal was able to hold off the Eagles down the stretch to earn the win
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop finished the game shooting 39 percent from the floor, 32 percent from three and was 13-of-23 at the foul line (57%
- Chanticleers shot 45 percent from the floor, 46 percent beyond the arc and 57 percent at the foul line (12-of-21)
- The battle on the boards favored Coastal Carolina 45-28
- Eagles forced 17 turnovers leading to 16 points while committing just eight that led to 14 points for Coastal
- Winthrop had a 24-22 edge in the paint
NOTABLES
- Duncomb has now set a new-career-high in points in each of the last three games as he posted his first 20-point game
- Berry posted his 7th 20-point game and his second in three games as an Eagle
UP NEXT
Winthrop returns to Rock Hill for its home opener with Mercer coming to town for at 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday, Nov. 15 as part of "Homecoming" weekend. The game is the first of a doubleheader with the women's basketball team that takes on Queens at 4:30 p.m.
