ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University lacrosse Head Coach
Hannah Potter announced its 2026 lacrosse schedule on Monday afternoon.Â

"Game schedule announcements are always exciting," said Potter. "For our program, they not only serve as a reminder of the exciting things ahead and the work still to be done to prepare for them, but they've also become a fun excuse for a Garnet vs. Gold competition."Â
"We compete in Garnet vs. Gold teams year-round to fuel our competitive spirit through scouting, scrimmages, and drill opportunities while also celebrating those who exceed our program standards in the classroom and the community," Potter states. "This year, we turned our schedule release into a Pictionary challenge where each team had to guess the opponent as their teammate drew a clue. To no surprise, our players outsmarted the game and were shouting out answers before a marker even hit the board! We'll definitely have to make it harder and go out of order next year. Gold took the win for all the loyal Gold alumni out there!"

"Aside from the fun and games of the release itself, we're really looking forward to the 2026 season," said Potter. "We'll face a great mix of familiar opponents in strong local competition, as well as new matchups — including a fun trip to Nashville to play Austin Peay and Iona over our spring break. We're grateful for ten home contests, including Big South play, which will be here before we know it! Stay tuned for more promotion and themed game announcements as we narrow down the amazing initiatives our student-athletes wish to see through!"
The Eagles will open its season with a home scrimmage against Elon on Jan. 31 before officially beginning regular season play at home against Kennesaw State on Feb. 14 at noon. Winthrop will remain in Rock Hill for the final three of a four-game homestand featuring matchups with Campbell, Feb. 18, Queens (N.C.), Feb. 21, and Davidson, Feb. 26.Â

"This spring, fans can expect to see a high-energy, fast-paced, and relentless style of play from Team 14," states Potter. "This group has shown tremendous growth this fall in transition, on the draw, and in both zones. We can't wait to showcase the connectedness of this team— they play with so much passion for each other and our sport!Â
We hope to see you in the stands, on the road, and rocking your Garnet and Gold. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief — we are together! Go Eagles!"
