- Eagles pretty much held or forced the play in the ETSU side for most of the first 10-12 minutes but were unable to make any final connections to create a goal or a good scoring opportunity
- In the 20th minute, Takumi Sato beat the goalkeeper to a bouncing ball and headed it into space inside the box
- Sato chased the ball down, cut back to his left and tried to curl a shot to the far left corner but it was wide
- In the 28th minute Berkay Duman had a clean look outside the box about 25 yards out but his shot was saved by a diving save from Jack Kilstrom
- Eagles had a good chance in the 37th minute as Diomario Adamson's cross found Jayco Castro unmarked at the back post but he was unable to steer a shot on frame
- In the 41st minute Adamson received a pass near midfield and as he turned up field he fired a shot over the head of the goalkeeper who was well outside the 18 but the shot was off the mark a little to the right
- In the 75th minute Bernardo Pacheco played a back pass to Adamson at the edge of the box but his left footed shot didn't have enough steam to beat the keeper who made a diving save
- Sato had a good chance in the 82nd minute as he received a pass in open space in the box but Emil Holmberg came out quick and closed the gap as he turned away Sato's shot
- In the end both teams had quality scoring chances with each keeper making a big save to keep the game scoreless
Notables
- This was the second 0-0 draw in the last three meetings between the two teams in Johnson City
- It is the first non-conference result on the road since Sept. 1, 2024 in a 1-1 draw at Jacksonville
- Winthrop had a 17-7 advantage in total shots while ETSU had the edge in shots on goal, 5-4
- Kilstrom finished with five saves while Holmberg had four
- Eagles had a 6-3 advantage in corners

Winthrop gets back to Big South Conference action as it heads down to Clinton, S.C. on Saturday, Oct. 11 to take on Presbyterian College at 7 p.m.
