Game Recap
- Bulldogs grabbed an early lead as they earned a corner and Rodrigo Mendes' service to the near post was headed home by Vidar Ragnarsson in the 11th minute
- In the 35th minute Takumi Sato fired a shot from outside the area off a back pass but his shot just missed wide right
- Asheville took a two goal lead in the opening minutes of the second half as Rinta Takagi served a corner to the near post as Ragnarsson flicked the ball to the back post where Lennart Granzow headed the ball into the open net
- Eagles were able to generate eight shots in the second half as they pressed to find goals but were only able to hit the target once
- That shot on frame came in the 77th minute as Sato was on the end of a service and his header on frame was saved by a diving Lucca Barros
Notables
- Winthrop finished with 10-8 advantage in total shots while the Bulldogs had a 5-1 edge in shots on goal
- The two teams combined for eight corners as the Eagles had three to five for Asheville
