Clinton, S.C. – Winthrop women's soccer overcame a two goal halftime deficit to earn a 2-2 draw on the road at Presbyterian College, Friday night in Big South Conference action.

Game Recap
- Eagles first good scoring chance came in the 16th minute as Lindsay Sheets received a pass in the middle of the field about 40 yards straight on from goal as she collected and dribbled toward goal
- Sheets let a shot fly as she approached the area and it was just right of the post
- In the 23rd minute Monssi Avila-Gutierrez fired a shot first touch near the top of the box that made its way through traffic toward the lower left corner but not enough steam to beat the keeper as Gracie Moulton made the save
- PC had a good look in the 24th minute as Lindsey Malyszek let a shot fly from about 30 yards out that missed left of the post
- The Blue Hose struck first as a long ball over the top by Maddi Merryweather found the feet of Lina Muller open in the box as she squared a ball in front of goal and Sloan Spees placed a shot into the back of the net in the 25th minute
- In the 29th minute Mia Vrataric came up big to keep it a one goal game as she denied Muller on a one-on-one inside the box
- Ally Bender created space by dribbling by a couple of defenders and fired a well struck shot at the edge of the 18 but it was right at the keeper in the 31st minute
- Eagles created a good scoring chance in the 33rd minute as Cordelia McIntosh dribbled outside the edge of the box to her left as Avila-Gutierrez took the ball and dribbled to her right in space as she fired a well struck shot into the lower left that was stopped on a diving save by Moulton
- PC found the back of the net again in the 45th minute, very similar to the first goal as Harlan Lyons dribbled by a defender in the box and played a square ball around the spot as Anna Hussey took a shot first time into the lower right corner for the goal
- In the 50th minute the Eagles came close twice as Avila-Gutierrez headed a cross on frame to the lower left corner that was saved and pushed wide
- McIntosh collected the ball wide and served a ball right in front to Lauren Kelly's who struck it first time just over the bar as it took a deflection off a PC player and out for a corner
- On the ensuing corner the service landed in front of goal and was cleared wide as the Eagles collected and pushed the ball back wide as Avila-Gutierrez served the ball into the box
- The ball was headed toward the top of the box as Amalie Steen chased the ball down, turn and ripped a shot into the left corner
- Winthrop equalized in the 60th minute as Lauren Kelly received a pass wide from McIntosh in transition
- Kelly dribbled directly at the defender pushing past to create enough space inside the box and ripped a shot into the lower left corner of the goal to make it 2-2
- Blue Hose had a good chance to regain in the 67th minute as Spees ran on to a pass about eight yards out to the right of goal and fired a shot but Vrataric was in perfect position to make the save
- The Blue Hose came within inches of grabbing a 3-2 advantage as Hussey chased down a pass in the box and beat Vrataric to the ball, dribbling around her to the right and wide of goal
- Hussey tried to get around the ball as her shot hit the near post and was cleared by the Eagle defense
Notables
- PC finished with an 20-8 advantage in total shots while the Eagles had a 6-3 edge in shots on goal
- This is the second straight matchup between the Eagles and Blue Hose that ended in a 2-2 draw, both games were played in Clinton
- The goals by Amalie Steen and Lauren Kelly were their firsts of the season while it was Steen's first as an Eagle
