Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop senior midfielder
Bernardo Pacheco has been named the Big South Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Pacheco's brace helped the Eagles earn a 2-2 draw at Longwood over the weekend. He started both games last week, which started with a 1-1 draw versus the College of Charleston.
In the 7
th minute of the Longwood match, Pacheco received a pass from
Jonah Straube around 50 yards out from goal. Pacheco dribbled down the middle of the field an from about 35 yards out line a shot over the keeper and under the crossbar for the goal. In the 13
th minute Pacheco put the Eagles up 2-0 as his shot at the edge of the box found its way into the net through traffic.
This is Pacheco's first Big South weekly honor of his career and he's the first Eagle to earn the honor since
Ricardo Ferreira Aug. 28, 2023.
