Game Recap
  • Eagles grabbed the lead in the 7th minute as Jonah Straube played a ball forward to Bernardo Pacheco in the middle of the field

  • Less than a minute after, Diomario Adamson stole the ball in the middle of the field on the Longwood side of the field as he played a quick 1-2 and seconds later fired a shot from outside the box toward the lower left corner that was tipped wide by Youssou Ouendeno
  • Winthrop continued to apply pressure offensively as it found the back of the net again in the 13th minute
  • Sodai Koketsu dribbled the ball from his own side of the field down the left sideline and eventually played a pass to Adamson at the top of the box
  • Adamson turned and fired a shot that was blocked and as Pacheco was joining the play he ran on to the ball and struck a shot first time on frame that took a deflection toward the opposite side the goalkeeper was diving and into the goal
  • Lancers created a good opportunity in the 26th minute as Paul Espinoza received a pass and then turned toward the middle of the field and fired a shot from outside the box forcing a diving save by Jack Kilstrom
  • Longwood came close again in the 34th minute as Aaron Bruening got on the other end of a service, open at the back post but his header hit the post and the Eagles were able to clear
  • Lancers nearly got one back before the half as a cross in front of the surface was lifted over the bar off the foot of Syrus Conolly as he was being challenge by a Winthrop defender
  • Eagles led 2-0 at the half but Longwood tried to chip away at that lead in the early moments of the second half
  • Benjamin Ferrero received a pass in open space as he ran into the box and fired a low shot to the near corner but Kilstrom turned it away over the line for a corner
  • Longwood's constant pressure to open the second half finally paid off in the 66th minute
  • Brando Bedolla received a pass inside the area, turned the ball back to his right foot and fired a shot toward frame that hit the nicked the back of Jonah Straube sliding in and sneaks into the right corner
  • Then seconds later the Lancers took advantage of a mistake by the Eagles defensively as Bedolla was applying pressure and a soft pass back to Kilstrom was intercepted by Bedolla as Kilstrom came sliding in the ball deflected off Bedolla and rolled into the open net
