Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop downed Presbyterian in overtime 67-58 Wednesday night after coming back from a double-digit deficit in the second half.

How it Happened
First Quarter | Winthrop trailed 8-2 three minutes into the game. A basket by
Amourie Porter and a free throw by
Olivia Wagner with 4:40 left cut the deficit in half only for PC to respond with nine of the next 11 points to go up 10 at 17-7 with nine seconds remaining. The Blue Hose also held the Eagles scoreless for more than three minutes.
Ciara Harris then ended the quarter with two free throws with five seconds left. This made it an eight-point game going into the second quarter.
Second Quarter | The Blue Hose started the second quarter by scoring 13 of the first 16 points to go up 13 at 30-17 with 2:49 left. Winthrop answered by scoring the final four points of the half to trail 30-21 at the break. Of Winthrop's 12 points in the frame,
Konnor Gambrell had eight of them.
Third Quarter | PC opened the second half with a basket but Wagner's shot from deep kickstarted a run in which Winthrop outscored the Blue Hose 12-2 in five minutes to trim the lead to one at 34-33 at the 4:56 mark after
Mya Pierfax's free throw. The Blue Hose answered with five points to go up six with two minutes left only to have Gambrell's second chance tip-in cut it to four seconds later. PC then hit a layup at the buzzer to lead 41-35 at the end of the stanza.
Fourth Quarter | Wagner's layup and three-pointer cut it to one to start the fourth quarter. The Blue Hose hit a three-pointer and a pair of free throws to restore their six-point margin at the 7:56 mark. Winthrop again cut it to three a minute later only to have the Blue Hose go back up six immediately on their next possession with a triple. The Eagles then went on a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 53-51 with 2:25 left. PC tied it at 53 on a jumper 30 seconds later and then missed their chance to win it at the buzzer and the game went to overtime tied at 53.
Overtime | It was all Eagles in the extra session, outscoring the Blue Hose 14-5 to complete the comeback. The Eagles 14 points in the overtime were a stepback jumper, a triple and two free throws by Porter, two layups by Gambrell, a pullup jumper by Pierfax and a free throw by Wagner.
