How it Happened
First Quarter | High Point led 10-6 early on as three different Eagles scored in the first five minutes. The visitors outscored Winthrop 7-4 to take a 17-10 lead with 22 seconds left.
Mya Pierfax then hit two free throws with two seconds remaining to make it a five-point game entering the second quarter.
Second Quarter | The Panthers maintained a lead ranging from 3-7 points in the first half of the second quarter. Of Winthrop's 11 points scored in the first five minutes of the frame,
Olivia Wagner and
Ciara Harris each had five as High Point would 30-23 at the 5:14 mark. The Panthers would then seize their largest lead of the half at 38-28 with 32 seconds to go and this would be the score heading to the locker room.
Third Quarter | The Panthers exploded in the third quarter, making it a 19-point lead at 55-36 with 1:50 left. Winthrop could muster only 10 points in the frame. The Eagles would go on to trail 55-38 at the end of three.
Fourth Quarter | High Point would go on a 16-10 run to take a 71-48 lead with 3:05 left in the game. Winthrop would end the game strong, scoring seven of the final 10 points to account for the final margin.
