Harrison's 14 Points Leads Eagles In Loss At High Point

High Point, N.C. – Winthrop men's basketball fell 84-62 at High Point, Saturday afternoon in Big South Conference action..
 
WINTHROP (13-9, 3-4 Big South) HIGH POINT (18-5, 6-2 Big South)
  • Kezza Giffa (14 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists)
  • Kimani Hamilton (14 points, 4 rebounds, steal)
  • Juslin Bodo Bodo (10 points, 12 rebounds, assist, block)

FIRST HALF
  • Eagles won the tip and Nick Johnson opened the scoring as he knocked down a three
  • Panthers answered with four quick points to take their first lead before Paul Jones III put the Eagles back on top with a score off a drive
  • Chase Johnston put the Panthers back in the lead and started an 10-0 run over the next five minutes
  • Johnson ended the run as he drained his second three of the game to trail 15-8 with 12:15 left in the half
  • Terry Anderson answered right back with a three for the Panthers and then a driving layup by Anderson pushed the lead to 20-8, forcing a Winthrop timeout
  • The lead extended to 14 points after Kezza Giffa scored off a drive, but Jones III answered with a step-back three And-1 and converted the free throw for a four-point play
  • Panthers led 47-25 at the break as their shot 58 percent from the floor as the Eagles finished at 29 percent

SECOND HALF
  • High Point opened the second half on a 7-1 run as Kelton Talford put an end to the run with a turn around jumper
  • The second half finished even with each team scoring 37 as the Eagles shot 44 percent from the floor and High Point finished at 50 percent

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • For the game the Eagles shot 36 percent from the floor and were 7-of-24 behind the arc (29%)
  • High Point shot 55 percent from the field and was 9-of-21 from three (43%)
  • The battle on the glass was won by High Point (47-27) which had 12 offensive boards that led to 19 points
  • High Point had a 34-24 advantage in the paint as well as a 12-8 edge in points off turnovers
  • Kasen Harrison scored all of his team-leading 14 points in the second half

NOTABLES
  • Kelton Talford moved into 4th place on the all-time scoring list, passing LaShawn Coulter (1,663) and now has 1,669 in his career
  • K.J. Doucet finished with nine points and is now one point away from 1,600 in his career
