Statesboro, Ga. – Winthrop volleyball fell to host Georgia Southern to wrap up non-conference action for the Eagles on the second and final day of the Bash In The 'Boro Invitational Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
Set 1 | The match began with a 3-3 early score on a kill and an ace by
Avery Jolley and a GSU error. GSU went on a 13-6 run to take a 16-9 lead. Two kills each by Jolley and
Karli Shepherd accounted for four of the six Eagle points during GSU's run. A kill by
Jenna Calloway, an ace and a kill by
Isabella Murray and an ace by
Alyah Cadavid made it 17-13. But the home team went on a closing 8-4 run in the frame, taking a 1-0 lead in the match. During their clinching run, Jolley tacked on two more kills and a block.
Set 2 | GSU lead 4-0 to start the second set before the Eagles tied at four on a kill by Shepherd, Jolley and a block solo each by Murray and
Giselle Little. GSU scored seven of the next eight points to take an 11-5 edge. Undaunted, the Eagles then scored five straight points to cut the deficit to one on two kills by Jolley, two aces by Cadavid and a kill by Murray. But GSU responded with a 9-1 run to go up 20-11. The two teams split the last 10 points of the set, giving GSU a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3 | The Eagles led 9-6 in the third on three GSU mistakes, a kill by Murray,
Maeve Rehmann and
Sydney Nolan and three kills by Little. GSU responded with eight straight points to take a 14-9 lead. Kills by Little, Shepherd,
Jessica Cinci and a GSU error made the score 17-13 in favor of GSU. The home team then scored five of the next six points to extend their margin to 22-14. After three straight points scored by Winthrop, GSU ended the match by scoring three of the final four points.
