- Mia Vrataric was busy in the early going as the Catamounts first shot on frame came in 1:52 into the game but Vrataric was there for the save
- Vrataric made another save a minute later on a low shot toward the lower left corner
- Lauren Kelly let a shot go in the 11th minute but it was right at goalkeeper Leanne Trudel
- Catamounts grabbed the lead in the 37th minute when Samantha Vibberts beat Vrataric with a low shot
- Western Carolina struck quickly out of the half to take a 2-0 lead as Naya Marcil scored in the 47th minute
- Milla Syska made it 3-0 in favor of the Catamounts in the 54th minute as she was set up by a pass from Isabella DeMarco
- In the 59th minute Emma Smith placed a shot toward the upper right corner but Trudel was there for the save

Looking Ahead
Winthrop won't be back in action for nine days when it travels to N. Charleston.S.C. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 for its Big South Conference opener. The Eagles will face Charleston Southern at 3 p.m.
