Eagles Score Late To Earn 1-1 Draw At Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Fla. – Bruno Riveron Sagrero's goal in the 77th minute earned the Winthrop men's soccer team a 1-1 draw at Jacksonville, Sunday evening in non-conference action.

Game Recap
  • In the seventh minute Diomario Adamson played a ball back toward the top of the box for Ryan Armijo who struck a shot first time with pace but it was right at the keeper Christian Sekanina
  • Again in the 9th minute as the Eagles created a scoring chance as Diomario Adamson's shot in the run of play to the lower left corner was stopped on a diving save by Sekanina
  • In the 16th minute, Sam Pidgeon made a fantastic defensive play off a corner kick
  • The service was high and toward the top of the area as it was headed toward goal by a Jacksonville player
  • Then Matthew Skinner won a header flicking it on toward goal and over the head of Jack Kilstrom as he came out to challenge the ball
  • Pidgeon ran behind Kilstrom and cleared the ball over the top of the frame just in time to keep the game scoreless
  • The Dolphins took the lead before half off a corner as Cristobal Molina-Campo finished with a header at the near post off the service of Paul Danner
  • In the 58th minute Rodrigo Ferreira fired a shot from outside the area with some open space but Sekanina was there for the save
  • Eagles tied the match in the 77th minute when Bruno Riveron Sagrero served a ball in front of goal and a miscommunication between a defender and the keeper let the ball go by and it curled into the net

Foot Notes
  • Dolphins had an 18-9 advantage in shots and 8-5 in shots on goal
  • Jacksonville had 10 corners to just three for the Eagles
  • Jack Kilstrom finished the game with six saves
  • Eagles extend their unbeaten streak against the Dolphins to six games
